Saudi Arabia officially refers to its currently developing super project as the giga project, which includes a series of strategic and dispersed government investment plans in different fields, including tourism, residential, commercial, retail, and industrial projects, aimed at revitalizing and diversifying the local economy, in line with the ambitious economic transformation goals of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These super projects will become catalysts for Saudi Arabia to maintain economic growth, create employment, promote social and cultural diversity, and are known as the "crown jewels" of the Saudi 2030 vision by the Saudi government. They are an important component in shaping Saudi Arabia's future trajectory. The term "giga project" is currently a lack of standardized definition and is specifically used to refer to giant investment projects in Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the importance and scale of individual projects. According to Saudi officials, the five development projects of NEOM New City, Red Sea Tourism Development Project, Qiddiya New City, ROSHN Housing Project, and Diriyah Ancient City are currently under the concept of giga project, while other large-scale projects in Saudi Arabia are expected to be included in this category as their scale and importance change during their respective development processes.
